History:

    • In the 1970's the building at 406 West 17th had been a popular restaurant and bar called Mrs. Robinson's.
    • The Dog & Duck Pub opened in May, 1990. The tin ceiling, fireplace, and mahogany bar where already fixtures of the interior.
    • The Owner, Susan Forrester, had at that time collected duck decoys and her then husband Bill was a veterinarian, thus the name Dog & Duck.
    • In 1991, The Dog & Duck sistered with The Dog & Duck Pub in London. Today the London pub is owned by a brewery and The Dog & Duck Pub in Austin remains a freehouse.
    • A scene from Miss Congeniality with Sandra Bullock (2000) was filmed at the bar.
    • And what the hell is a Willie Burger? Well, there was a fella named Willie Brown who helped renovate the building and then worked in the kitchen. He invented a great combination of swiss, bacon, jalepenos and burger, so send the late great Willie a thought every time you enjoy a Willie burger.
